How To Prevent Headaches, Home Improvement

Headaches can ruin your day and make it more difficult to perform tasks. Fortunately, there are ways to reduce your chances of getting one. Here are some ways to prevent headaches.

Dim the Lights

Many people suffer from photosensitivity, meaning they are sensitive to light. This is a common cause of headaches. Installing cellular shades Boston to reduce the amount of sunlight in your home is one great way to reduce harsh lighting. You can also wear sunglasses while outside, use lamps rather than overhead lighting and avoid fluorescent lighting when possible.

Stay Hydrated

Dehydration is one of the most common causes of headaches, and it’s very easily avoidable. Drinking enough water throughout the day makes you far less likely to develop a headache. If you are unsure if you are dehydrated, pay attention to the color of your urine. You are hydrated if it is almost clear and dehydrated if it is dark yellow.

Limit Screen Time

Looking at phone, computer, tablet and TV screens for long periods of time causes eye strain, which can lead to headaches. Limiting time spent on these devices can help. If you have to look at screens for long periods of time, such as during work or school, blue-light-filtering glasses can also help reduce eye strain.

Eat Regularly

Waiting too long in between meals or snacks is a frequent trigger for headaches. In fact, many people that suffer from chronic headaches keep snacks with them to eat throughout the day. Make sure you are eating enough food at regular intervals. Consult with a doctor before starting any new diets to make sure it will not negatively impact your headaches.

Reducing your exposure to light, staying hydrated, limiting your screen time or blocking blue light and eating regularly are all ways that you can prevent headaches and live more comfortably.
